Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride (generic Avelox) exerts its action by entering bacterial cells and inhibiting the action of two bacterial enzymes, called topoisomerase II (DNA-gyrase) and IV. These enzymes are involved in the replication and repair of bacterial genetic material (DNA). Replication and repair are processes essential for the growth of bacteria.
The inhibition of these bacterial enzymes and thereby interference with the bacterial DNA, ultimately results in Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride (generic Avelox) killing the bacteria.

Keep out of the sun, or wear protective clothing outdoors and use a sunscreen. Do not use sun lamps or sun tanning beds or booths.
If you are going to have surgery, tell your prescriber or health care professional that you are taking Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride (generic Avelox).
